Saint Johns Hotel Madaba

This post is also available in: Deutsch (German)

Madaba is the famous mosaic city in Jordan. It’s conveniently located between the vibrant capital Amman and Queen Alia Airport, Jordan’s main airport. Most people will visit Madaba on a daytrip from Amman.

However, Madaba is also a great place to sleepover, especially for those who want to avoid the heavy traffic in the capital. There are various hotels in Madaba. Most of the hotels are small, family-run hotels or guesthouses.

Below you’ll find an overview of the best hotels in Madaba for all budgets. I have personally reviewed all of these hotels over the past few years which means that this article is based on my own experience and opinion.

Saint John Hotel

One of the best known hotels in Madaba is the Saint John Hotel.

What I like most about this hotel is its excellent location paired with the view. St. John Hotel is located on a small hilltop which makes it one of the higher buildings in the old town. The hotel has a small restaurant with a terrace from where you can enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding town and its characteristic buildings.

The hotel has several double rooms and family rooms. Rooms are spacious and clean and come with a private bathroom. The hotel is within walking distance to the old center and all sights of Madaba.

Free parking is available right behind the hotel.

Black Iris Hotel

Another great hotel in Madaba I’ve recently discovered is the Black Iris Hotel.

The hotel is located in the heart of Madaba, in walking distance to the sights and shops.

Black Iris hotel is a small hotel run by locals. What I like a lot here is the excellent price-quality ratio.

Rooms are simple and functional, yet comfortable, cozy and clean. While there’s WiFi at the hotel, the rooms don’t have television. The hotel is great for solo travelers and families alike. There are various room types available here, including family rooms for up to 5 people.

Note that the hotel features a small private car park but you’ll also find plenty of parking spaces on the nearby streets.

The breakfast options are abundant. Besides, tea, coffee and water are available for free throughout the day.

Mosaic City Hotel

If you’re looking for a more comfortable hotel in Madaba, Mosaic City Hotel is your best bet. This 3-star hotel has slightly larger and more modern rooms compared to the previous two options.

Mosaic City Hotel is a great choice for solo-travelers, couples, family and friends alike. You can choose between twin rooms, triple rooms and family rooms fitting up to four people (choose between single and double beds). Both the exterior and exterior of the hotel are beautiful and decorated with attention to detail.

What’s special about this hotel are the spacious rooms. In fact, rooms here are larger than in most hotels in Madaba. Solo-travelers will like the deluxe single rooms (yep, a large bed all for yourself, without booking a double room). Many (if not all) of the rooms come with a balcony and a view of the city.

Just like most other hotels in Madaba, the Mosaic City Hotel is located within walking distance to the sights and the old city center.
