Saint Johns Hotel Madaba

Madaba is the famous mosaic city in Jordan. It’s conveniently located between the vibrant capital Amman and Queen Alia Airport, Jordan’s main airport. Most people will visit Madaba on a daytrip from Amman.

However, Madaba is also a great place to sleepover, especially for those who want to avoid the heavy traffic in the capital.

There are various hotels in Madaba. Most of the hotels are small, family-run hotels or guesthouses. You’ll also find a couple of chains here.

Below you’ll find my selection of the best hotels in Madaba.

Saint John Hotel

My favorite hotels in Madaba is the Saint John Hotel. This is the same hotel from where you’ll enjoy the great view on Madaba. The hotel has several double rooms and family rooms. Rooms are spacious and clean and come with a private bathroom. The hotel is in walking distance to the old center and all sights of Madaba.

What I liked most about this hotel

  • Excellent location close to the old center and all sights
  • Great view on Madaba
  • Friendly staff
  • Good food (the hotel has a restaurant with a rooftop terrace)
  • Spacious rooms with comfortable beds
  • Free parking (directly behind the hotel)

Black Iris Hotel

Another great hotel in Madaba I’ve recently discovered is the Black Iris Hotel. The hotel is located in the heart of Madaba, in walking distance to the sights and shops. The rooms are simple yet comfortable, cosy and clean. The hotel features a private car park but you’ll also find plenty of parking spaces on the nearby streets. The breakfast options are abundant, tea, coffee and water are available for free throughout the day.

What I liked most about this hotel

  • In walking distance to the old city center
  • Close to one of Madaba’s best restaurant Haret Jdoudna
  • Various room types available including family rooms for up to 5 people
  • Delicious breakfast (free tea, coffee and water throughout the day)

Note that (some) rooms at Black Iris Hotel are rather simple, without TV. The hotel doesn’t have a private car park. Guests need to park in the nearby streets. Madaba is safe, thus street parking is usually not an issue.

Mosaic City Hotel

If you’re looking for a more comfortable hotel in Madaba, the Mosaic City Hotel is your best bet. This 3-star hotel has slightly larger and more modern rooms compared to the previous two options. Mosaic City Hotel is a great choice for solo-travelers, couples, family and friends alike. You can choose between twin rooms, triple rooms and family rooms fitting up to four people (choose between single and double beds). Many (if not all) of the rooms come with a balcony and a view on the city. Just like most other hotels in Madaba, the Mosaic City Hotel is located in walking distance to the sights and the old city center.

What I liked most about this hotel

  • Beautiful exterior and interior with attention to detail
  • Close to Madaba’s attractions
  • Spacious rooms (larger than most hotels in Madaba)
  • Deluxe single rooms (even solo-travelers will get a large bed here)
  • Balcony with city view available for most rooms
  • Various room types available including family rooms for up to 5 people
  • Delicious breakfast is included in the room rate

Don’t miss my post about Madaba for the best sights and activities in the city.
